Is it curable ?
I'm not going to sugar-coat it, and here's the cold hard truth ... NO, it cannot be adequately cured.
PSC is a lifelong, progressive disease that must be managed on a daily basis, and at it's worst sometimes on an hourly basis.
The ONLY way to fix it, is by having a liver transplant. And it's likely that's not going to occur until the disease has progressed quite a bit closer towards the stages of liver failure.
In the meantime, we'll endure many ERCP surgeries, generic testing, pain episodes, maybe hundreds of blood tests, and once you've had it for long enough it's entirely possible you'll eventually take your body weight in prescriptions to fight off infections and pain.
But ... and I stress the importance of the next bit : It CAN be adequately managed.
And quality of life IS possible if you're willing to fight it head-on.
